Leon and Paul have been making music together since they met at school in 2005. Over the years,they performed as sidemen in various projects and jazz ensembles, appearing on stages across Europe and beyond. After years of working as professional musicians, founding their own band was a natural next step. Based on Paul’s songs and Leon’s producing skills, CALAMITE is completed by singer Mathilde and Luca on flute with various FX pedals and backing vocals. Since 2023, the four band members have been working together on a psychedelic-influenced sound that lies somewhere between jazz, progressive rock and pop. CALAMITE deals artistically with current issues and incorporates this into their songs in English and French, the native language of half of the band. The band’s diverse musical backgrounds and influences characterize their music, giving CALAMITE its distinctive and ever-evolving voice.
In 2024, CALAMITE released their debut EP “Demo Tape”, alongside the singles “Traces” and “L’Infini Devant Moi”, both taken from their live video performance “Basement Session – Live”. The band is currently working on their first full-length album, set to be released on vinyl in November 2025.
